I have a rule of thumb for "is this real or part of a dream" that I came up with after watching (the original) Total recall when I was 12 or whatever for family movie night: If at least two supposed "not real" things interact with each other without the dreamer's presence and the dreamer does not know about what they did, then they are real. For Hypnoron's Dreamscape, he has a lot of magically created constructs alongside the illusions and warped spirits. It's been awhile since I talked about Deities and constructs,(I think I called them that?) but basically, The gods cannot create true life on their own, but they can create constructs, which are basically like a physical, magical A.I. Hypnoron loves messing with people, so he's gotten really good at making them.

On a side note, watching Total recall at 12 years old made for a kind of creepy (those strange faces when they are exposed to the atmosphere on mars) but awesome movie night. I was kind of scared of the mutant belly dude who literally looks kind of like someone beat up a baby and dumped water on it, but that character's voice was too calm and nice for the scariness to stick, kind of like if a horrifying looking movie monster didn't do anything evil, and acted like a happy puppy. A weird, giant, murderous looking puppy.
